A fictional written resume review
Inspect a worked example of prioritized feedback, selected bullet revisions and a final editing checklist.
This sample is fictional. It illustrates the written deliverable's structure; it is not a customer result or a promise that every review will contain the same recommendations.
Candidate and target
Maya is a B2B seller considering an associate device-sales position. Her draft lists a verified annual quota result and cross-functional implementation work. She has no device-sales experience. The immediate task is to present the relevant evidence without implying that she already holds the target role's specialized experience.
Overall diagnosis
The strongest evidence is the clear quota result. The weakest part is ownership: the draft makes Maya sound responsible for implementation work performed by operations. The opening summary also uses “medical device sales professional,” which is not supported by her background.
The first revision should improve accuracy and relevance. Formatting changes come after that.
Priority 1 — Correct the positioning
Original summary: “Medical device sales professional with a proven history of driving hospital growth.”
Suggested direction: “B2B account executive with experience developing account plans, managing follow-up and performing against an annual revenue target.”
Add a career-transition sentence only if it helps the application. Do not claim hospital experience unless it actually exists. Tailor the final wording to the job description and your records.
Priority 2 — Make the result interpretable
Original: “Crushed targets and transformed revenue.”
Possible revision, where supported: “Recorded $1.2 million in annual revenue against a $1 million quota, achieving 120% attainment.”
Check that both figures describe the same period and revenue definition. If the result was a team total, label it as a team result and explain Maya's contribution separately.
Priority 3 — Restore the ownership boundary
Original: “Led all customer implementations from sale through launch.”
Possible revision: “Coordinated the sales-to-operations handoff, documented customer requirements and tracked open commercial questions through launch.”
This describes a contribution without taking credit for the operations team's delivery. Confirm that each action is accurate; a polished sentence is not a substitute for the facts.
Editing checklist
- Replace unsupported device or clinical expertise in the summary.
- Keep the annual result only after checking the period, quota and definition.
- Distinguish personal actions from team outputs in every bullet.
- Use the target role's requirements to select evidence, not to invent keywords.
- Remove confidential account names and restricted internal documents.
- Prepare a short explanation of each result for the interview.
A clarification within scope
Maya asks: “Can I keep the launch outcome if operations owned implementation?”
Yes, if it is relevant and clearly attributed. Explain the shared result and Maya's part in the handoff. Do not say she managed the implementation unless she actually had that responsibility.
The paid scope, when available, is a diagnosis, prioritized feedback, selected edits and an editing checklist for one resume and one target role. It is not a complete rewrite or a hiring guarantee. Read the service details.
